Brandon Dillon on the Issues

Strong Families, Strong Communities
As a husband and a father, Brandon Dillon knows that strong families make strong communities. He also knows that we can't all move forward if we leave our most vulnerable citizens behind. As a County Commissioner, Brandon will fight to insure that Grand Rapids gets it's fair share of county resources, will advocate for better mass transit, and will work with city leaders to improve the quality of life for all our citizens.

Open, Honest and Effective Government
Brandon Dillon is committed to keeping you informed about county government and he will work hard to break the culture of secrecy among the Board of Commissioners leadership. That means holding regular meetings with regular citizens and neighborhood groups, not just a few well-connected insiders and lobbyists. Leadership requires more than just being visible at election time. Brandon will regularly ask for your input and ideas to make county government more effective.

Fiscal Responsibility
As the top aide to a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Brandon Dillon knows how to set priorities and balance budgets. He also believes that, since it's your money, you have a right to know how and where it is spent. As a County Commissioner, Brandon will be a fiscal watchdog for Grand Rapids taxpayers and will work closely with our local and state officials to look for ways to save taxpayer dollars.

Supporting children, families and seniors
Brandon Dillon believes that fiscal responsibility also means investing in programs that give a strong return on the dollar. As a County Commissioner, Brandon will advocate matching any dollars spent on incarceration with dollars invested in early intervention for at-risk kids. He will insist that the County do more to reduce lead paint poisoning, which harms children and leads to lifelong developmental problems. And he will also work to improve services for seniors to allow them to remain in their homes longer. These are all programs that will save taxpayer money and improve the quality of life in our community.

Safe Streets, Safe Communities
The first responsibility of any government is to protect its citizens. As a County Commissioner Brandon Dillon will work closely with our public safety agencies to keep more law enforcement officers and firefighters on the street.
